Terms and conditions

This site, tefer.io, is operated by Tefer Consolidate PLC, trading as Tefer. In these terms, Tefer, we and us mean Tefer Consolidate PLC. You means you, and any company you are acting for.

By browsing this site, submitting one of its forms, or registering for one of our events, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. Nothing in these terms takes away a right the law gives you and does not let you give up.

You must be at least 18 to submit a form or register for an event. If you fill in a form on behalf of a company, you confirm you are allowed to do that.

tefer.io is an information and enquiry site for a software development and outsourcing studio. It describes what we do, who we are, and how to reach us. That is its whole job.

Service descriptions, engagement models, timelines, team shapes, indicative ranges and examples of past work are descriptions of how we usually work. They are not terms you can accept to form a contract, and they are not promises about your project.

We try to keep the site accurate and current, but we do not warrant that every page is free of errors or up to date. Nothing here is professional advice for your particular situation, and you should not make a business decision on the strength of a web page alone.

When you send an enquiry we will normally reply, usually with questions. If it looks like a fit, we scope the work and put a written proposal in front of you. Work starts only once both sides have signed an agreement that covers scope, deliverables, timing, price, payment terms, confidentiality and intellectual property.

Everything on this site is descriptive until it is written into that agreement. That includes the 15-day MVP timeline, the engagement models (product engineering, dedicated team, staff augmentation, MVP development), any budget range shown on a form, and anything said at an event or on an introductory call. None of it is a commitment, a quote, or a guarantee of a result.

Where a signed engagement agreement and these terms disagree, the signed agreement wins for that engagement.

Registration and seats

Registration is free. Seats, both in the room and on the livestream, are limited and are allocated at Tefer's discretion. Registering is a request, not a guaranteed seat: we may cap numbers to venue capacity, close registration early, or move people from in-person to livestream. We confirm your place by email, and the confirmation is what counts.

Programme and timing

The programme, speakers, running order and times published for an event are indicative. They can change, including on the day. Speakers may be swapped, sessions may be shortened, and the schedule may shift. We will not always be able to tell you in advance.

Recording and photography

Sessions may be recorded, livestreamed and photographed. If you attend in person you may appear in that material: in the audience, asking a question, or in footage of the room. We may use it to write up the session, to share the recording with registered attendees, and to promote future events.

If you would rather not appear, tell a member of the team when you arrive. We will point you to seating outside the camera view and do what we reasonably can to keep you out of the material. To have a specific photo or clip taken down afterwards, email hello@tefer.io and we will remove it where that is technically possible.

Your registration data

Where an event is organised or hosted with partners, sponsors, a venue or a livestream provider, your registration details may be shared with those partners so that the event can run. What is shared, why, and the limits we put on partners are set out in section 04 of the privacy policy. If you do not want that, email hello@tefer.io before the event and we will keep you off the shared list. You can still attend.

Cancellation, changes and conduct

• We may cancel, reschedule or relocate an event, or switch it to livestream only. We will email registered attendees when we do.
• We are not responsible for travel, accommodation or other costs you incur in order to attend, whether the event changes or not.
• We may refuse entry to, or remove, anyone who is abusive or disruptive, or who breaks the venue's rules.
• Please treat other attendees decently. Events are for learning and meeting people, not for selling to the room.

Use the site the way it is meant to be used. Specifically, do not:

• Scrape, crawl or harvest the site or its forms with automated tools, or copy substantial parts of it for republication.
• Submit through the forms at a volume or rate that is not a genuine enquiry, or try to work around the rate limits.
• Attempt to reach the private admin area, sign in as a member of staff, guess or reuse credentials, or test the security of this site without our written permission.
• Submit false or misleading information, impersonate anyone, or enter another person's name, email address or phone number without their consent.
• Submit anything unlawful or defamatory, or anything containing malware or a link to it.
• Interfere with the site or the servers behind it, including attempts to overload, probe, disassemble or reverse engineer them.

We may block addresses, discard submissions and withdraw access when this section is broken, and we may report unlawful activity to the authorities.

The content of this site, including its text, layout, design, code, illustrations and photography, belongs to Tefer Consolidate PLC or to the people we license it from. The Tefer name, the Tefer mark and our visual identity are ours.

You may read the site, print or save pages for your own use, and quote short extracts with attribution and a link back. You may not copy the site or a substantial part of it, republish our writing as your own, or use our name or mark in a way that suggests a partnership, sponsorship or endorsement that does not exist.

Third-party names, logos and trademarks that appear on this site, including the tools in our technology stack, belong to their owners and are shown for description only.

The site links out to other places and embeds content from them. For example, the event page embeds a Google map so you can find the venue, the home page loads a background video from a content delivery network, and the footer links to our LinkedIn page.

We do not control those services. Their terms and privacy policies apply when you use them, and loading an embed means your browser talks to that provider directly. A link is not an endorsement, and we are not responsible for third-party content or for what happens once you leave this site.

The site is provided as it is and as available. We do not promise any level of uptime, and we may change, suspend or remove any part of it, or all of it, at any time and without notice.

The forms depend on services we do not run, so a submission can fail. If a form fails and you still want to reach us, email hello@tefer.io or call +251989-77-77-70.

To the extent the law allows us to say so, we do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error free, or free of harmful components.

In plain terms: we stand behind our own serious wrongdoing, and we do not take on the knock-on losses that can follow from your use of a free information site.

What we exclude

Lost profits, lost revenue, lost or corrupted data, lost business or reputation, wasted spend, and any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this site, from relying on something published on it, or from an event being changed, cancelled or not what you hoped.

Our cap

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you in connection with this site and our free events is limited to what you have paid us in connection with them, which for a free site and free events is normally nothing.

Client work

Liability for work we deliver under a signed engagement agreement is governed by that agreement, not by this section.

What we never exclude

Liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, and for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Indemnity: if you break section 05, or submit another person's personal data without their consent, and that leads to a claim or a penalty against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs we have to spend dealing with it.

What we collect through this site, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do about it are set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

Two points worth repeating here:

• Event registration details may be shared with event organising partners, as described in section 04 of the privacy policy. Contact enquiries and call bookings are never shared that way.
• The newsletter has an unsubscribe link in every email, and you can opt out at any time by writing to us.

These terms, and any dispute about them or about your use of this site, are governed by the laws of Ethiopia.

The competent courts of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia have jurisdiction over any such dispute. Before anyone files anything, please email hello@tefer.io so we can try to settle it directly. Most things can be sorted out that way.

If a court finds one part of these terms unenforceable, the rest of them still apply.

We may update these terms. The current version is always on this page, with its date at the top, and it is the version that applies. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated version.

For anything material we will make the change visible rather than quiet, and where a change affects an event you have registered for we will email you.
